The story behind this painting:
I took the photos I used to create this piece at Buddy Guy's concert in Fort Worth in '07, where I also presented him with his portrait "Legends" that was commissioned for his 71st birthday. Meeting him for the first time, his larger-than-life persona did not disappoint!
Eric Clapton wrote the foreword to the biography of Buddy and once said: "He was for me what Elvis was probably like for other people...My course was set and he was my pilot."
The title of this painting refers to the passing down of the musical genre of Blues from one generation to the next. One of my goals with this series was to open the hearts and minds of younger people to the history, importance and magnificence of blues and jazz music and its contribution to later music styles such as rock'n'roll and hip-hop.
