Known as the "Queen of the Blues", Koko Taylor said: "Blues is my life. It's a true feeling that comes from the heart, not just something that comes out of my mouth."
I wanted to portray her larger than life because that is what her voice is to me. It is huge and raw and cuts straight to the heart. The only way to show that is in a large format depicting a moment in the middle of a song, totally focused, giving it her all.
Sadly, Ms. Taylor passed away in 2009.
