Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of the first concerts I went to after moving to Texas in '85 and I fell in love wih his music. I had included him in my painting "Legends", the commissioned portrait of Buddy Guy, because I knew how much he meant to Buddy. I also wanted to be sure to include him in my blues exhibition and chose this pose because it so clearly shows his love for the music and his well-worn guitar "Lenny". The large spot light lends an ethereal quality that appealed to me.
