framed size Shemekia Copeland is the daughter of Texas Blues man Johnny Copeland and wife of Orlando Wright who plays with Buddy Guy. Robert Plant has called her the next Tina Turner. I wanted to include a young female blues artist in this series and knew she was the right one. Her voice matches her great face, which I couldn't resist painting. She has said: "You've gotta sing because you need to do it." As a painter I understood exactly what she meant!
